Dr Robert A. Irvine

Clinical Associate Professor, Providence Health Care, Vancouver, Canada
Rob Irvine completed medical school at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada in 1984, and Otolaryngology residency at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 1989. He completed a one year head and neck and microvascular surgery fellowship with Dr. Sebastian Arena in Pittsburgh, USA in 1991, and and has been practicing in Vancouver since that time. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC.

His main area of clinical activity is in sialendoscopy and salivary gland obstructive disease, including the utility and limitations of laser stone fragmentation. He is enthusiastic about point of care ultrasound in ENT, and uses ultrasound on a daily basis. His other main area of interest is thyroid surgery.

His other professional activities include being a panel member on the Provincial regulatory college complaints committee, and prior terms as ENT Division Head for St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, UBC Otolaryngology Residency Program Director, and a primary reviewer for the UBC Clinical Research Ethics Board.
