Dr Sally Langley

President, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons; Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Christchurch, NZ
Sally is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has practised in Christchurch, and the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, since 1990. She is an Otago Medical School graduate and did much of her medical training and then surgical training in Christchurch. She also spent 2 years of her plastic surgery training at Middlemore Hospital, Auckland. Sally did a hand and microsurgery fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky, then a year at The Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford doing clefts, craniofacial, head and neck surgery and hypospadias.

Sally’s work in Christchurch has been the whole range of plastic surgery, though now with more staff than earlier years, she concentrates on skin cancer, hand and microsurgery, and breast surgery. Her department has 11 plastic surgeons, 4-5 SET trainees in plastic surgery, several registrars, PGY1 and 2 junior doctors, and 4th year and 6th year medical students who spend time with at clinics, operating lists and tutorials. Sally is an intern supervisor for Medical Council of New Zealand.
 
Sally has had a steady involvement with the College, RACS, as examiner for 11 years, including two years as Deputy Chair of the Court of Examiners, until May 2017. She was called back for the Fellowship exams in September 2020 and May 2021. 
 
Sally has been a councillor for New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons (NZAPS) and was President of NZAPS for 2 years, finishing in 2015. These days, since 2013, as a RACS councillor, she has been Chair of Professional Development and Chair of Professional Development and Standards Board, renamed the Professional Standards and Advocacy Board. Sally became 49th  RACS President in May 2021.
