Professor Suren KrishnanOAM, FRACS
President, Australian Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ASOHNS) Suren Krishnan is Professor in the Faculty of Surgery at the University of Adelaide and Honorary Professor of Deakin University Institute for Intelligent Systems Research. He was the first surgeon in the southern hemisphere to perform Trans Oral Robotic Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in July 2008. He has proctored all Australian Head and Neck Surgeons who have not had the opportunity of robotic fellowships in the USA and has been responsible for the training of the four senior TORS surgeons in the United Kingdom.

Suren is Australia’s most experienced TORS surgeon and has been responsible for the introduction of both the INTUITIVE da Vinci robotic surgical platform as well as the MEDROBOTICS Flex system. He has performed or participated in over 400 TORS cases and conducted Australia’s first TORS courses. He has participated as an invited speaker at many national and international meetings, as well as, contributing to the international literature on TORS.
He has been recognised with Australia Day and Queen’s Birthday honours for his services to Head and Neck surgery and for voluntary medical services to the Pacific Islands, Indonesia and Africa as well as service as an active Rotarian.
