Associate Professor Philip Bird 

MB ChB, FRACS
University of Otago, NZ
Philip Bird is an Otolaryngologist at Christchurch Public Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Otago, Christchurch.  He received his specialist training in Wellington and Christchurch and then undertook a fellowship in Otology, Neurotology and lateral skull base surgery at the University of Miami.  He is a senior surgeon with the Southern Cochlear Implant Programme.  He is actively involved in research with colleagues at the universities of Otago, Canterbury and Auckland, specifically in drug delivery to the inner ear and inner ear effects of middle ear interventions, and cochlear implant outcomes.  He is in private practice in Christchurch with a special interest in paediatric and adult otology, cochlear implantation and lateral skull base surgery.
